Rev Rowena King
Christopher Etherton Retired Sept 2019
Christopher moved to this Benefice in May 2014, from the Isle of Wight where he had ministered previously. He takes specific responsibility for the Rissington parishes.
He is married to Diane – they have 3 ‘grown-up’(?) children. Poppy the Dog still lives at home. Before ordination, Christopher’s main career was management consultancy in the NHS, employed within pre-Thatcher, privately after. He has also worked in manufacturing, and, with Diane, run a hotel. When time beyond his allegedly part-time post permits, he enjoys walking and DIY – in demand for the latter from his children now he’s back on mainland England. He and Diane enjoy tracing family tree. Christopher retired on 15th September 2019.
Rowena is Aussie-born, but has called England home since 2012, and Bourton on the Water from 2018. She is married to Malcolm, and has a daughter, Elizabeth. Prior to ordination she trained as a teacher and worked mostly in Outdoor Education, but also worked in school chaplaincy, for the Iona Community, and even briefly in the circus! These days, along with the usual clerical pursuits of reading, hill walking, and enjoying a good glass of wine, she enjoys dressmaking and sourdough bread baking (both with varying degrees of success).
